RTXC Quadros RTOS supports IAR C/C++ development tool for ARM

Quadros RTOS integrated with new IDE from Metrowerks, supports Motorola MX1, Intel XScale, and other ARM-based platforms.

Houston, TX, Foster City, CA, – Janary 12, 2004 – Quadros Systems and IAR Systems announced today the release of a port of the RTXC Quadros real-time operating system for the IAR Systems ARM Embedded Workbench® along with an RTOS-aware plug-in for the IAR C-SPY® JTAG debugger.

The combination of IAR development tools and the RTXC Quadros real-time operating system gives embedded developers a comprehensive, integrated solution for projects using ARM7- and ARM9-based microcontrollers. The IAR development solution for ARM combines the IAR highly optimized C/C++ compiler, assembler, linker, ANSI libraries, text editor, project manager and C-SPY JTAG debugger in one integrated development environment.

RTXC Quadros is a robust, multi-tasking, real-time operating system with a rich set of kernel services. This innovative RTOS is comprised of two major modules, a single stack kernel and multi-stack kernel, which can be used separately or in combination to support DSPs, microcontrollers and multiprocessing environments. Because all combinations share a common API, the RTXC Quadros RTOS offers significant benefits in scalability, flexibility and performance.

“IAR and RTXC products have a long and successful history,” said Nadim Shehayed, General Manager of IAR Systems Software, Inc for North America. “We’re happy to see the integration of the next generation of RTXC operating systems—the RTXC Quadros RTOS—with our ARM solution. Together we offer a powerful development solution that should be well-received by our customers.”

“The integration with the Embedded Workbench tools further strengthens RTXC support for ARM-based products,” said Tom Barrett, President of Quadros Systems. “The excellent reputation of the IAR Embedded Workbench in the ARM design community made them an obvious partner for us.”
