Quadros Systems Delivers Flash File System for High-Performance Devices
RTXCflashfile minimizes flash access, optimizing efficiency
Houston, TX — June 21, 2004 — Quadros Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of configurable and scaleable real-time operating systems (RTOS), released RTXCflashfile, an embedded file system targeted at flash devices. RTXCflashfile works with both NOR and NAND flash devices and provides sophisticated management routines that optimize performance and longevity through wear-leveling features. Full integration of RTXCflashfile with RTXC Quadros RTOS and RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP software enables developers to take advantage of all RTXC RTOS features in a flash memory application.
To enable developers to focus on their core design goals, Quadros Systems has incorporated intelligent memory management features into RTXCflashfile, ensuring that problems such as bad flash sectors are automatically isolated. RTXCflashfile’s write caching system ensures that flash updates are kept to minimum. Using a graphical user interface, RTXCflashfile also provides a flash file-system analysis tool that helps developers weigh the design trade-offs between configuration parameters such as sector size, flash page size, and write cache size.
“Applications such as cell phones, PDAs, and MP3 players exist entirely in a diskless environment where there is no access to complex disk-recovery software,” noted Tom Barrett, CEO of Quadros Systems. “RTXCflashfile delivers robust performance to these kinds of applications, enabling the system and its application data to recover 100% from power loss or reset. Today’s consumer expects 100% reliability and RTXCflashfile eases the delivery of such through solid stability.”
Anticipating the short time-to-market pressures faced by its customers, Quadros Systems designed RTXCflashfile to ease the development process. By providing drivers to over a dozen specific flash devices and supporting both NOR and NAND technologies, Quadros Systems maximizes design choices and device flexibility. Through integration with RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP, developers can access files on a flash device from anywhere in the world via ftp, telnet, or web server. A secure and reentrant API is included along with standard ease-of-use features such as long file names, multiple volumes, and simultaneously opened files. Access to ANSI C compliant source code provides the additional level of control needed for critical applications.
Availability and Pricing
RTXCflashfile is available immediately. Single project licenses start at $5000.
