Quadros Systems Announces Support for Expanded Freescale™ ColdFire® Platform

Integrated software supports new on-chip peripherals and functionality

ESC Booth # 924

Boston, MA, 2004 ESC Boston - September 13, 2004 - Quadros Systems, Inc., a leading supplier of configurable and scaleable real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced support for the expanded family of ColdFire processors (MCF523x, MCF527x, MCF528x, MCF547x, and MCF548x) from Freescale Semiconductor. As integrated 32-bit processors designed for networked and stand-alone real-time control applications, these new ColdFire processors reduce memory requirements, power dissipation, system board size and costs in a variety of industrial applications. The RTXC Quadros RTOS and middleware enables developers to maximize the performance of the ColdFire family with sophisticated kernel services, highly scalable memory footprint, and extensive peripheral support.

“ColdFire processors bring together many of the critical features embedded developers need for specific applications,” noted Tom Barrett, president of Quadros Systems. “Knowing the real-time needs of the control developer, we have worked closely with Freescale Semiconductor to ensure that the extended set of on-chip peripherals is matched with equally integrated real-time software capabilities.”

The RTXC Quadros RTOS offers an extensive suite of middleware integrated with the RTXC RTOS kernel. To address application needs that range from large-scale factory automation to precise medical instrumentation, Quadros has provided ColdFire developers with RTXC Quadnet TCP/IP, IPsec/IKE security module, RTXCflashfile, CAN and USB. This complements the extensive on-chip peripherals in the latest ColdFire devices to support increased connectivity, security and control and to target applications ranging from robotics and point of sale scanners and terminals to security and other commercial implementations.

Price and Availability

The RTXC Quadros multi-stack RTOS for the ColdFire family is available immediately and is priced starting at $12,500 for a single project license.
